LSU standout Flau'jae Johnson was spotted celebrating her teammate Mikaylah Williams' impressive performance at the FIBA 3x3 U23 Nations League in Mexico City. While hoops fans had their eyes on Team USA basketball at the Paris Olympics, Williams dominated the court elsewhere.

LSU Women's Basketball took to X to praise Williams when she netted all of the first four baskets for Team USA against Mexico. Johnson reposted the message on her X handle to support Williams and wrote:

"It's too easy."

Mikaylah Williams was a phenom on the court for Team USA at the event. She led them to a 21-19 victory against Puerto Rico in the Nations League Americas final game.

This win ensured United State's spot in the upcoming World Cup, which is set to take place in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, from September 11.

Williams has many accolades to her name when it comes to 3x3 basketball. She was also a part of the FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup team thrice and was named MVP in each one of them. The USA Basketball 3x3 Athlete of the Year in 2022 was also honored with the 3x3 Female Athlete of the Year award in 2023.

On the other hand, Williams also had a great freshman season with LSU in the 2023-24 season. She started in 33 out of 34 games while averaging 14.5 ppg, 4.9 rpg and 2.9 apg. She also had a shooting percentage of 47.1%. As a result, she was named the SEC Freshman of the Year in 2024.

That being said, Mikaylah Williams has a very important sophomore year ahead of her. After the transition of former LSU stars Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith to the WNBA, she will have the opportunity to replace them in the program and become the new face of college basketball.

Mikaylah Williams could replace Hailey Van Lith at LSU

The 2023 women's NCAA champions, LSU Tigers, will enter the 2024-25 season without their key players such as Hailey Van Lith and Angel Reese.

Van Lith averaged 11.6 ppg last season, whereas Reese was the scoring machine with an average of 18.6 ppg.

After losing the most important pieces of her roster, coach Kim Mulkey will have to find a replacement for them.

With Flau'jae Johnson expected to replace Angel Reese, Mikaylah Williams is one of the candidates to replace Van Lith in the program.

Entering her sophomore year, she displayed a lot of potential, suggesting her readiness for a senior role. However, she'll have to compete with other stars, like Aneesah Morrow and Kailyn Gilbert, to secure her place.
