Kia Brooks, the mother of LSU star Flau'jae Johnson, believes that Johnson going to the Atlanta Dream for her WNBA career will bring her huge success. She reasoned that Johnson has roots in Georgia and would get much love there.

Brooks appeared in episode 11 of the 'Best of Both Worlds' with Flau'jae Johnson. Johnson asked her mother about the team she would choose for her in the WNBA. Brooks' first choice was the Los Angeles Sparks and her second choice was Atlanta: (Start at 30:17)

"The second choice will be Atlanta. You will sell out arenas in Atlanta Georgia. Period. That is your home, that is where you are from, the love for you here is just so beautiful like our house is being built here in Atlanta. It is like a perfect thing you know."

Flau'jae Johnson was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia. She played for Sprayberry High School and was the school's all-time leading scorer.

Johnson has played for two seasons at LSU. Johnson was named SEC Freshman of the Year in 2023, when LSU claimed the national championship. In the 2023-34 season, she averaged 14.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. She shot 50.4 percent from the field.

Johnson is just entering her junior year, but she could declare for the 2025 draft after the season since she will turn 22 later that year.

The Los Angeles Sparks have the best odds of winning the top pick for the 2025 draft. As for the Dream, they will not have a first-round pick in the draft due to a previous trade.

Flau'jae Johnson received love while visiting her hometown

In July 2023, Flau'jae Johnson visited her hometown. The visit started with a parade and the LSU star donated $10,000 to the Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club.

Johnson was born in Savannah and she moved to Atlanta later. She shared that she wanted to inspire the students about the possibility of achieving a dream:

"When I was coming up in the Boys & Girls Club, there wasn't anybody like me. I want to show the kids that dreams can be achieved," Johnson said per WJCL.

Flau'jae Johnson delivered a performance at the end of her visit, which was attended by thousands of natives.
