Kim Mulkey praises Mikaylah Williams as LSU Tigers preserve unbeaten start
Mikaylah Williams starred for the Tigers in the come-from-behind win, scoring 32 points and grabbing nine rebounds. She made the biggest basket of the night for LSU, draining a game-tying 3-pointer with 4.3 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.
Mulkey was full of praise for the sophomore star and her work ethic postgame.
"She'll tell you, 'All I know to do is work, coach. It's how I was raised.' Mikaylah is hardest on herself. This game will humble you, this game will reward you, move on to the next. She's a pleaser, she does not want to disappoint anybody, whether it's her parents of her coaches," Mulkey said per the Daily Advertiser.
"I tell her, 'You're not going to disappoint us. Your worst is still good for us. Your best is good enough for us,'" Mulkey added.
Williams helped LSU complete the comeback win, scoring six of the Tigers' 14 points in the extra period. Kailyn Gilbert and Flau'jae Johnson also played their part in the victory, adding 25 and 21 points, respectively.
With the win, the Tigers improved their overall record to 10-0. They have won their first eight games at home this season.
