Paige Bueckers has been all over the country this offseason, enjoying her time away from college while also training for the upcoming season. The UConn guard documented her trips on her Instagram as she shared pictures from her practice sessions in New York to her viral photographs during WNBA All-Star Weekend in Phoenix. She also threw the first pitch at a Minnesota Twins game last week.
During an interview posted by a Paige Bueckers fan page on Instagram on Saturday, Bueckers was asked about her world tour and she said:
"It's been wild. The whole world tour has been super fun. I've got, this is my first real offseason in college where I've been healthy. I'm not in one place doing rehab. So, it's been really fun. It is a mix of business and fun."
The guard was also asked to name one favorite stop, to which she replied:
"My west coast trip was extremely fun. I really enjoyed LA for the ESPYs, but I'll probably say Phoenix for the WNBA All-Star (Weekend) was my favorite stop. And then, I'm from Minnesota, so going back home is really cool."
Every offseason since Paige Bueckers' successful freshman year has seen the guard struggle with injuries. She played just 17 games in her sophomore year as she was sidelined for a huge part of the season with a tibial plateau fracture and lateral meniscus tear.
While preparing for her next season, she sustained an ACL tear, causing her to medical redshirt her junior year. After more than a year off the court, Paige Bueckers made a successful return in 2023, leading the UConn Huskies to a Final Four run during the 2024 March Madness.
Now, in her final college season with the Huskies, Bueckers' main goal is to win the championship.
"There’s a much larger sense of urgency," the guard said (via The Athletic). “This is my last year to get what I came here for, which is a national championship. … No more 'Passive Paige.'"
Paige Bueckers extends her business profile in the offseason
While preparing for her final college season, Paige Bueckers is also making plans for her post-college, professional career. The guard signed with former Huskies, Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier's Unrivaled, a professional 3v3 basketball league. Along with better salaries than the WNBA, the league also provides ownership stakes in teams for all its players.
Bueckers also signed an NIL deal with the haircare brand, Madison Reed, where she will be the face of the ColorWonder line. This partnership also comes with an equity stake in the brand, along with internship and franchising opportunities. The guard is also set to release her own shoe with Nike in September.
