On Thursday, guard Flau’jae Johnson, who is preparing for her junior season with the LSU Tigers while also working on her music career, shared photos of her Halloween celebrations on Instagram.
"Happy Halloween 🎃 New Music Tonight," she wrote in the caption.
One of the photos featured Johnson with an unidentified man whose face was hidden behind a white pumpkin.
Johnson's mother, Kia Brooks, commented on the post, writing:
"It's the SOFT LAUNCH for me!!"
In addition to her progress on the court, Flau’jae Johnson has made significant strides off the court this offseason by officially debuting as a rapper with the release of her EP, 'Best of Both Worlds'. Balancing both music and basketball, she recently discussed how she manages it all.
“What I learn in basketball about pushing through challenges and staying dedicated translates into my music career, and vice versa,” Johnson said (The Mirror). “They fuel each other, and I’m grateful I get to live in both worlds.”
“I truly believe you can be good at two things and also be successful if you put in the work. We don’t have to be one-dimensional. I’m blessed to have these opportunities, so why not take advantage of them?”
Flau’jae Johnson shows out during the exhibition game, setting the tone for the 2024-25 season
After last season’s Elite Eight run and the departure of Angel Reese to the WNBA, expectations are high for Flau’jae Johnson in the 2024-25 season.
While some questioned her ability to lead without Reese, Johnson silenced her critics with a standout performance, hinting at what’s to come. During LSU's 114-53 win over Xavier in an exhibition game in October, she scored 30 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and shot 13-of-19 from the field and 2-of-4 from beyond the arc.
LSU coach Kim Mulkey praised Johnson's performance during the post-game press conference.
“[Flau’Jae] was phenomenal and I think what you’re seeing from her is comfort,” Mulkey said. “She’s a leader and it’s because she has all the experience and puts in the work. She and Morrow were the most comfortable out there tonight. I’m not surprised either one of them had double-doubles.”
The LSU Tigers will start their regular season on Monday, Nov. 4 against Eastern Kentucky.
