John Calipari's Arkansas Razorbacks won 75-60 over the UTSA Roadrunners on Saturday. Adou Thiero led with 26 points and 10 rebounds while Johnell Davis was the only other double-digit scorer with 13 points.

The game was close in the first half, but the Razorbacks pulled through in the second. John Calipari commented on this difference in contribution caused by the inconsistency of the starting line-up.

"I got to figure out why Nelly (Johnell Davis) is getting so tired in the first four minutes," Calipari said (1:20). "What it tells me is a little anxiety, so we got to deal with that. It's hard for us to win if Boogie (Fland) doesn't play well. Now he played for 20 minutes, he didn't and then he started playing.

Fland finished with six points, six rebounds and seven assists while playing 31 minutes. Calipari stressed that the freshman has the freedom to play his style within the system and shared that he has bigger expectations for the guard.

"The last game a dude didn't play well, and we won anyway," Calipari said. "We don't have enough guys to have guys not play well and we still win. But Nelly second half played. I mean, you're starting to see him. He's going to just keep coming into his own."

John Calipari admits that work needs to be done

John Calipari's current Arkansas roster came about in weeks after he took over the role in April. With most players coming from the transfer portal, they did not have enough time to play together and create chemistry.

The Razorbacks lost two of their nine games this season and coach Calipari asked for patience from fans.

“I got a lot of work, folks,” said Calipari. “I am not a magician, I don’t have a magic wand and, poof, they’re going to be better. This will take time.”
“We’ve got a lot of stuff that we’ve got to do and I’m not afraid of it. I mean, I’m a grinder. That’s what I do. Let’s see us in a month. Let’s see us in two months. Right now, I know what we are. Frustrates me, frustrates you. I know but these kids fight and they’re good kids."

The Arkansas Razorbacks will next play against Michigan on Tuesday.
