Arkansas' Bud Walton Arena has brought back its old logo. The Razorbacks AD Hunter Yurachek announced on Wednesday the mid-court logo was changed back to the 'Slobbering Hog', which was removed in 2008. The change was carried out through an NIL fundraiser.
"HOG YEAH! Thanks to a late six figure donation, + @JustinColeMoore concert $ + an incredible number of Razorback fans donating what they could; we have hit our $500K goal to match our $500K donation to hit $1M mark in one week. Center court logo added this morning as promised," Yurachek wrote on X.
The logo was popular during the 90s and early 2000s. With the arrival of John Calipari and the huge shift that the program is experiencing, the logo change only adds more excitement among fans for the upcoming season.
John Calipari is taking a slow but steady approach to building the Arkansas program
With the exit of former coach Eric Musselman, the Razorbacks lost most of their players to the transfer portal. Tasked with rebuilding the roster, John Calipari has managed to sign some of the best talents, including those from his former team Kentucky.
With the season approaching, Calipari shared his thoughts on the process of reviving the Arkansas program.
“The summer was total development of players and we really didn’t do much of that team stuff,” Calipari said. “Then team play is, how do we make each other better?
“Some of that is how do we play for this team to be at its best? We’re going to play fast, we’re going to be unselfish, but how do you get into playing fast? Who takes it out of bounds with this group? I’ve done different things.
I’ve had the 5 take it out, I’ve had the 4 take it out, I’ve had the 3 take it out different places because of those teams. We’re still working that through. And the answer will probably be given to us by the players. They’ll do things that we’ll say, ‘This is the best way for this team to play.’”
While it might not be possible for John Calipari to bring in immediate results, he has reportedly set a goal of at least two to three years before he leads Arkansas to an NCAA championship.
The Razorbacks will now focus on their 2024-25 campaign which is set to begin with a charity game against Kansas on Oct. 25.
