Team USA gymnast Jordan Chiles won a bronze medal on Monday afternoon at the Olympic floor exercise event behind influential teammate Simone Biles (silver) and Brazil's Rebeca Andrade who won the gold medal.

South Carolina Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley, who is at the Paris 2024 Olympics, cheered on for the gymnast and posted a clip on X celebrating the win.

"Yeah Jordan!!! @ChilesJordan I was mad at first but I am instantly happy for you! Heck yeah!!" Staley wrote.

The bronze by Jordan Chiles was not without controversy, with Romania's Ana Barbosu thinking that she had bagged the medal and even celebrating with her country's flag before Team USA coaches submitted an inquiry, which the judges changed in favor of Chiles.

Her difficulty was upped by one-tenth of an increase, moving her from fifth to third, sparking scenes of wild celebration. Chiles' new score of 13.766 topped Barbosu's 13.700.

Jordan Chiles wears golden grills for podium celebration

Jordan Chiles was part of the Team USA group (Sunisa Lee, Hezly Rivera, Simone Biles and Jade Carey) that won gold in the women's artistic gymnastics event on Tuesday. She celebrated in style on the podium.

Before the Olympics, Chiles had golden grills custom-made for her in Houston and she got to wear them at the podium. In an interview with GQ, she revealed that she foreshadowed the podium and thus the grills.

"I got them done before I left and, you know, I was like, What if we win a gold medal? I had really good faith in us that we were gonna win a gold medal," Chiles said.
"So I was like, you know what, I'm gonna just bring them with me. It was more of a fashion statement for me because I was like, I'm gonna have them with me, I'm probably gonna go do stuff in Paris. You know, this is just Jordan.
"I was like, 'You know what, I'm gonna stand on the podium with that gold medal around my neck and I'm gonna have my grills in and see what people say.' It was kind of just like me going with the flow of everything. Again, I like fashion a lot, so I felt like in that moment, why not put a fashion piece in my mouth? Gold and gold, it went well," she added.

Jordan Chiles has fulfilled her dreams of winning medals at the Paris Olympics and made herself an icon with her unique podium style at the same time.
