The East Coast and the West Coast have their pros and cons, but JuJu Watkins knows where she aligns on the topic.
Watkins, playing for the USC Trojans, had a discussion with Ari Chambers on the HighlightHER podcast show last year, going over the young star's popularity, how she is motivated by winning, and other things.
One of the questions Chambers decided to ask was about the West Coast, and Watkins didn't hold back in her response.
"I would say the West Coast, best coast. The weather, food, scenery, opportunity, and marketing," Watkins said.
JuJu Watkins' stardom, high expectations this season
Watkins is coming off a strong 2023-24 campaign where she averaged 27.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.3 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game. While her shooting leaves plenty of room for improvement, she made strong impressions in her freshman season with the Trojans.
USC finished 29-6, winning the Pac-12 Championship as the Trojans made the NCAA Tournament and reached the Elite Eight before falling 80-73 to UConn.
Seeking to make a deeper run this year, USC began on a high note beating No. 20 Ole Miss 68-66. Watkins led the team in scoring with 27 points, getting the big win in Paris, France. The Trojans will return home to the Galen Center when they play Cal Poly on Nov. 9 at 5 p.m. ET.
