Sophomore JuJu Watkins teamed up with her senior USC teammates, Kiki Iriafen and Rayah Marshall, to give a special tour of the Galen Center. In a video uploaded by Bleacher Report, the three starters combined to give a fun-filled tour of the Trojans' basketball facility, which they have dubbed "The pLAce to be".
The tour began with the weight room, which received a massive upgrade in 2020 thanks to a big donation from Sacramento Kings star DeMar DeRozan. Before heading into the DeRozan Family Weight Room, Marshall gave a shoutout to the six-time NBA All-Star, who represented the Trojans during the 2008-09 college basketball season before entering the 2009 NBA draft.
After Marshall showed the different racks the trio uses for working out, Watkins flexed her strength with a comment about her efforts in the gym.
"Fun fact, I lift the most out of everybody here," Watkins said.
Soon after the comment, Marshall and Iriafen gave an awkward stare to the camera, making their feelings about Watkins' comments known. Marshall then proceeded to take a dig at Watkins, claiming Watkins uses lighter dumbbells.
"So, this top rack right here, this is where people like JuJu lift their weights. People like me, Kiki, we live down there," Marshall said.
"I start at 70, first of all," retorted JuJu, to which Marshall responded, "She's not familiar with that. She don't even know where 70 is!"
JuJu Watkins and USC have electric start to the 2024-25 season
During the offseason, the Trojans bolstered their roster with the addition of Iriafen following her decision to enter the transfer portal after a stellar 2023-24 season with the Stanford Cardinal. Alongside JuJu Watkins, Iriafen has been one of the stars at USC, as the Trojans have shown why they are one of the strongest teams in women's college basketball early in the season.
Watkins, Iriafen and Marshall have all posted strong numbers in the seven games the Trojans have played so far this season, leading them to victories in six of those games. Across those games, Watkins has averaged 23.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.3 blocks, while Iriafen has averaged 18.4 ppg and 8.6 rpg.
Meanwhile, the 6-foot-4 Marshall has been a solid presence up front, averaging 8.6 ppg, 7.4 rpg and 2.9 apg.
