JuJu Watkins Stats Tonight: How did USC star fare vs Nebraska (Jan. 1) 

JuJu Watkins carried USC on her back once again in its New Year's Day game against Nebraska.

The 6-foot-2 sophomore guard came up with 26 points, three rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block in 36 minutes for the No. 4 Trojans, who won 75-55 over the Cornhuskers to improve to 3-0 in Big Ten and 13-1 overall.

Watkins shot 7-of-15 from the field (1-of-4 from the 3-point line) and was automatic from the free-throw line, making 11-of-12 shots. She buckled up to work early, scoring eight points on two layups, a jumper and two free throws.

Watkins also recorded an assist, a steal and a block in the first quarter as USC raced to an early 16-12 lead. She had five points in the second period on a layup and a 3-pointer to go along with a rebound and an assist.

By halftime, the Sierra Canyon standout had 13 points, one rebound, two assists, one steal and one block, leading the Trojans to a 39-34 advantage in the first 20 minutes of action.

Watkins picked up 11 points in the third period on a layup and nine free throws. She was fouled constantly by the Cornhuskers on a ploy to earn two points the hard way but the plan backfired as she made 9-of-10 attempts.

The guard also had two rebounds and two assists for the Trojans, who led 59-45 after three quarters. Watkins had two points and a steal in the fourth period before resting in the game's final minutes.

Trojans vs. Cornhuskers Game Recap: Watkins-Iriafen duo lead USC past Nebraska

JuJu Watkins and Kiki Iriafen combined for 40 points as USC demolished Nebraska 75-55 to remain unbeaten in Big Ten Conference play on New Year's Day.

The dynamic duo shot a combined 14-of-31 from the field and recorded nine rebounds and seven assists for the Trojans, who kept up with No. 1 UCLA, No. 10 Ohio State and No. 8 Maryland in the top spot of the loaded conference.

USC shot 45% from the field and made 17-of-23 shots from the free-throw line to make amends for their horrible 3-point shooting (4-of-17). The Trojans led the assists (20-14), steals (10-5) and blocks (7-3) departments to set the tone.

The Lindsay Gottlieb-coached squad had a 25-10 advantage in turnover points and picked Nebraska apart with a 42-18 pounding on inside points.

Logan Nissley led the Cornhuskers (10-4, 1-2 in Big Ten) with 14 points and Britt Prince added 10.

USC returns to action against Rutgers at Jersey Mike's Arena in Piscataway, New Jersey on Sunday.
