USC Trojans guard JuJu Watkins was almost perfect from the field in her team's 95-73 Big Ten Conference win over the Penn State Lady Lions. Propelled by Watkins' efficiency, USC was able to hold off their visiting opponents to stay flawless in the conference, 6-0.

Watkins continued to showcase her scoring mastery in 32 minutes of action, going for 35 points on 13-of-15 field goals made, doing most of her damage from inside the three-point arc, 11 rebounds, three assists, five steals and three blocks.

The 19-year-old star's first points would come via a layup at the 8:45 mark of the first period. Following this, she would do most of her damage from the charity stripe as Watkins would help in other areas such as assisting and rebounding. Eventually, she would end the first frame with a three to give USC a 27-18 edge.

In the second quarter, Watkins would score consecutive lay-in's right from the get-go before hitting from deep again, 41-31. She then became a pest with her swipes of the basketball, allowing her to convert them into baskets onto the other end. Because of the second-year sensation's contributions, the Trojans closed out the half up by 25 staggering points, 56-31.

Going into the third period, Watkins kept the pressure on the Lady Lions with an immediate five-footer in the opening seconds. After a couple of boards, the spitfire scorer would miss her first shot attempt at the 7:46 mark — a testament to her elite scoring prowess. This did not stop Watkins, however, as she continued to pad on more points with freebies and makes to the tune of USC's 24-point lead, 76-52, at the end of three.

With the game seemingly out of reach for Penn State already, Watkins took advantage of this by staying aggressive. She still affected the game in many areas, such as scoring, playmaking, and defense, before she would be subbed out for the remainder of the fixture. The Trojans kept hold of their gigantic lead to win their 16th game of the year, 95-73.

JuJu Watkins sets a new season-high with 35 points

The 35 markers Watkins poured out on Sunday is the most she has had in the season. Her previous highest scoring tally was 34 points against the St. Louis Billikens back in November. Before the win over the Lady Lions, the 6'2 guard was averaging 24.9 points per game on the season as that stat is sure to increase after Jan. 12.

With their 12th straight dub in their hands, Watkins and the rest of Trojans have only lost one game this whole campaign. They'll look to generate more conference momentum against the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday, Jan. 18, as Watkins will hope to bring her scoring skills once again.
