JuJu Watkins came up with a 23-point, 14-rebound double-double to lead USC to a 92-42 demolition of Rutgers in a Big Ten matchup on Sunday at the Jersey Mike's Arena in Piscataway, New Jersey.
The 6-foot-2 guard put up an all-around effort, tallying four assists, three steals and one block in 30 minutes of action for the Trojans (14-1, 4-0 Big Ten) despite shooting only 34.8% from the field.
Watkins came out firing from long range in the first quarter, making two 3-pointers. She also put up three rebounds, two assists and one block, and the Trojans raced to a 22-8 lead.
The sophomore guard added five points — on two layups and one free throw — four rebounds and one steal. It boosted her halftime tally to 11 points, seven rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block, as USC grabbed a 37-14 advantage over the Scarlet Knights at the break.
Watkins put up an additional six points on a triple, a layup and a free throw, and the Trojans extended their lead to 45, 69-24, after three quarters. She also tallied three rebounds and two steals in the period.
The Sierra Canyon standout wrapped up her game with six points on two layups and a free throw. She added four rebounds for USC, which had its largest lead at 55 before coasting along in the final minutes when the game was already decided.

USC kept pace with the Big Ten leaders as it demolished Rutgers by 50 points on Sunday. JuJu Watkins put up 23 points and 14 rebounds while Kennedy Smith added 19 points, two rebounds, three assists, six steals and one block.
Kiki Iriafen contributed 14 points, eight rebounds and three blocks for the Trojans, who improved to 4-0 in the Big Ten and 14-1 overall.
No. 1 UCLA (15-0) and No. 8 Maryland (14-0) have similar 4-0 records, with the Terrapins meeting the Trojans on Wednesday at the XFINITY Center in College Park, Maryland.
USC shot a so-so 40.3% from the field, but its defense held Rutgers to 28.0% shooting. Watkins' 14-rebound game helped the Trojans win the rebounding battle, 56-28.
The Lindsay Gottlieb-mentored squad dominated the assists (18-5) and steals (17-9) departments and had a 38-6 upper hand in points off turnovers. The Trojans also topped the inside points (34-10) and fast break points (37-6).
JoJo Lacey topped the Rutgers' offense with 14 points and four rebounds, while Destiny Adams added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Scarlet Knights, who dropped to 8-7 (0-4 Big Ten).
