JuJu Watkins 'stoked' to face Paige Bueckers in USC vs UConn showdown

JuJu Watkins and the No. 7-ranked USC Trojans are set to face Paige Bueckers and the No. 4-ranked UConn Huskies on Saturday at XL Center in Hartford Connecticut.

The much-anticipated game is a rematch of last season's Elite Eight duel where the Huskies won over the Trojans to advance to the Final Four. Watkins scored a game-high 29 points while Bueckers had 28 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

For Watkins, she is "stoked" to play against Bueckers' UConn in a top 10 matchup. The Trojans are aiming to get back at the Huskies for ending their season last year.

"I'm so stoked," Watkins said on Saturday, via FOX Sports. "To get a top 10 matchup, it's always an opportunity. And for us to really showcase what we've been working on and our progress since the beginning of the season. We're really excited for it, and you just know it's going to be a great one."

Watkins also talked about the Elite Eight loss being a motivator for USC entering the game.

"I would say we're a completely different team from last year," Watkins said. "So I wouldn't say it's been the most prominent motivator for us to get better, but I'd say for me and some of the returning players, there's an aspect of taking things personally. They ended our season last year, so, of course, it's in our nature to make that one of the reasons why we're going out there to play so hard."

Watkins is averaging 24.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game this season. She is expected to team up with Stanford transfer Kiki Iriafen, who is averaging 18.7 ppg and 9.2 rpg to deliver the win for USC.
