Ayoka Lee, Serena Sundell lead Kansas State to 83-39 routing vs New Mexico State
The Kansas State women's basketball team rolled over New Mexico State in Bramlage Coliseum, Manhattan. Ayoka Lee led with 19 of her 34 points scored before halftime. Serena Sundell also scored 18 points to take the Wildcats to 12-1.
Lee scored the first points for Kansas with a pair of layups and 1-for-2 shooting from the foul line. She made another layup after Mexico State's Molly Kaiser's game-tying 3-pointer and a jumper. Lee's layup, which was the third, inspired a 10-0 run in which she made three more layups for the Wildcats to finish 19-7 in the first quarter.
The Aggies (6-5) tried for a comeback in the second quarter, scoring 15 points. But they were still outscored by four points and ended the half trailing the Wildcats 38-22.
In the second half, Kansas decimated New Mexico State, outscoring the Aggies 28-7 and led 66-29. Lee scored an additional 11 points and went 5-for-7 from the foul line.
Wednesday's game means Lee has scored in all 125 of her career games. It is also her 13th career game with 30 or more points and 10 or more rebounds. Both Lee and Sundell have reached double figures in the same game for the 41st time, and their 52 combined points mark the third time the duo has combined for 50 or more points in the same game.
