Auburn players hail Jahki Howard for his steller dunks in Tigers win vs Monmouth
No. 2 Auburn recorded an 87-58 win over Monmouth to close out its non-conference game on Tuesday. The Tigers struggled in the early minutes of the first quarter, allowing Monmouth to take the lead in the first 10 minutes of the game.
However, Auburn bounced back in the second quarter, going on an 18-0 run to close out the half with a 46-28 lead. The Tigers' bench ran the second half from electrifying displays from freshman duo Tahaad Pettiford and Jahki Howard.
“To be honest, I’m about to go home and rewatch that because I can still believe what I see with my own eyes. But that kid is a freak of nature,” senior Chad Baker-Mazara said.
"When I first saw it, I couldn’t breathe,” senior Dylan Cardwell said. “I was literally like breathtaking. Growing up, you always saw that Gerald Green dunk when he played for the Nets. That windmill."
Auburn coach Bruce Pearl said that Howard is "gifted and is a hard worker."
Meanwhile, the Tigers will host Missouri on Saturday.
