Doug Gottlieb voiced his opinion on Jason Kelce's wild interaction with a fan. The retired NFL star has gone viral within the last 24 hours after obliterating a fan's phone, which was captured on video by several onlookers. Following the incident, Kelce was trending on social media for a significant period of time.
While walking past a few people, Jason Kelce was infuriated after a fan mocked his brother, Travis' relationship with Taylor Swift. The fan questioned Jason, "Hey, Kelce! How does it feel your brother’s a f—– dating Taylor Swift?", following which the former Philadelphia Eagles center turned around, snatched the fan's phone and instantly slammed it to the ground.
Ahead of his maiden season as the head coach of the Green Bay Phoenix, Gottlieb took to X to express his opinion, believing the fan deserved the treatment that Kelce dished out.
Gottlieb wrote, "I’ve been in lots of crowds where people yell dumb stuff, but it is getting worse. Kid needs an a** whoopin, .@tkelcecanr because he has a huge career after his outstanding career.."
Doug Gottlieb to kick-start coaching career at Green Bay
Doug Gottlieb has made a name for himself as a college basketball analyst, featuring regularly on Fox Sports. He has also featured on the Pac-12 Network, ESPN and CBS Sports in the past.
Prior to the beginning of his broadcasting career, Gottlieb was one of the top guards in college basketball during his playing days. His most notable period was with the Oklahoma State Cowboys, which featured an astounding junior season in which he led the country in assists (299) and assists per game (8.8). He currently ranks 10th in all-time assists in NCAA basketball, with his tally standing at 947.
The departure of Sundance Wicks to Wyoming gave Gottlieb the opportunity to begin a new chapter in his life, as the Phoenix appointed him as the program's head coach this May. He will be keen to make a solid impression with the two-time NCAA Tournament finalists, who have failed to make March Madness since 2016.
Gottlieb's side looked good in their first exhibition game, recording a 102-73 victory over St. Norbert. He will officially begin his maiden season as head coach when the Phoenix take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys at Stillwater on Nov. 4.
