The Kiki Rice-led UCLA Bruins are yet to lose this 2024-2025 season as they hold a 3-0 Big Ten Conference thus far along with being 14-0 overall. The No. 1-ranked team is preparing for its big game against the Indiana Hoosiers (10-3), hoping to stay undefeated on the campaign.
One of the driving forces of the Cori Close-coached squad is spitfire guard Kiki Rice. Over the course of her junior year, Rice has shown flashes of impeccable perimeter skills both on the offensive and defensive end.
As she and the UCLA Bruins set their sights on a marquee fixture on Saturday, Rice made her feelings known in facing Indiana on the opposition's home court during a pre-game interview, as reported by AP News.
"Growing up on the East Coast you know how big of a basketball state Indiana is. I’m really excited for that opportunity,” she shared.
Playing her third year in college basketball, Rice is averaging 13.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per contest while shooting an efficient 61.1% from the field, which is the highest mark in her college career.
She is the backcourt partner of standout center Lauren Betts, who is posting up 19.3 points, 9.8 boards, 2.4 assists, 1.1 steals and 2.2 blocks per game.
For Rice and the rest of the Bruins, the biggest challenge is maintaining their stellar play despite being in away territory. They will gun for their fourth conference win in the tip-off scheduled for 12:00 p.m. EST.
Kiki Rice is also looking forward to playing against Purdue on the road
After their game against the Hoosiers, Kiki Rice and the Bruins are set to continue their Big Ten Conference match-ups as they take on the Purdue Boilermakers at the Mackey Arena on Tuesday. Rice admitted that she is also excited about this away matchup, saying:
"I like playing in those environments. It’s really fun to play on the road when everyone is rooting against you. It just brings an extra little motivation."
With back-to-back fixtures on the road, the UCLA faithful will hope to see Rice shine on the bigger stages of college basketball. There is optimism that she can continue with her outstanding play, as evident from her recent string of consistent outings this season.
