Kim Kardashian calls Kiyan Anthony's mom La La's best-selling book "The Love Playbook" a "personal, complicated" story

Denver Nuggets legend Carmelo Anthony's ex-wife La La Anthony has been on an extensive overseas trip with their son, Kiyan Anthony, to Tokyo, Japan. She came back home recently with good news.

Variety revealed that the actress and her longtime friend, Kim Kardashian, were partnering to release a television series in which she would star. It is an adaptation of Kiyan Anthony's mother's book, "The Love Playbook: Rules for Love, Sex and Happiness." The book was released in 2014 and was a New York Times Best Seller.

The duo would collaborate on the series titled "Group Chat" with 20th Century Television and "Black-ish" creator Kenya Barris, who is listed as the series creator while Kardashian would be an executive producer.

In an interview with Variety, Kim Kardashian spoke about the reason why she felt like adapting La La's book was a good idea.

“I’m incredibly interested in telling stories that are personal, complicated, relevant, from my own experiences and those familiar to me,” Kardashian said.

“I had a front-row seat to working with the exceptional team at 20th Television during 'American Horror Story: Delicate,' and I’m so excited to dive into developing my first wave of television projects with the team led by Karey Burke and Eric Schrier, and to continue working alongside Craig Erwich and his entire group at Hulu and Disney.”

Anthony revealed the news in an Instagram post showing her enthusiasm at the impending release of the show. It was captioned:

"The secret is out!! 😱Super excited @kimkardashian and @kenyabarris it’s happening!!! This show is about to be CRRAAZZZYYY! Everything you and your friends talk about in love, life, friendships and relationships! Can’t wait!! Thank you @bslater9 for seeing the vision and putting this together! Let’s gooooooooo @hulu!!!!" she wrote.

La La Anthony and Kim Kardashian share deep interests

La La Anthony and Kim Kardashian have been friends for a long time and have collaborated on various projects in the past. Kiyan Anthony's mother has a passion for social justice and prison reform which she shares with Kardashian.

Her organization, "La La Land" works on a project at Riker's Island named "ThreeSixty" that provides various services to inmates aged between 18 and 21, including legal representation, life coaching and society re-entry.

Anthony has a recurring role on the popular television show "Power," Starz's show "BMF" and Showtime's "The Chi." The new series will add to an already busy schedule for the actress.

Anthony and Kim Kardashian will executive produce the "Group Chat" television series which will air on Hulu.
