Flau'Jae Johnson and Aneesah Morrow will join LSU Tigers coach Kim Mulkey for the SEC media day on Oct. 16. Following the exit of Angel Reese to the WNBA and Hailey Van Lith to TCU, Johnson and Morrow are expected to lead the Tigers in the 2024-25 season.

Flau'Jae Johnson is a junior guard who was part of the championship-winning squad in 2023. She has grown immensely and played an important role in leading the Tigers on the Elite Eight run last season.

She averaged 14.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.0 blocks as a sophomore. Johnson shot 50.4% from the floor, including 38.0% from the 3-point range.

Meanwhile, Aneesah Morrow transferred to LSU last season after two years with DePaul. She averaged 16.4 points, 10.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.1 blocks.

Flau'Jae Johnson is prepared to lead the Tigers to a great season

Flau'Jae Johnson improved immensely last season and is considered one of the most important pieces in coach Kim Mulkey's roster. With her increasing responsibilities, the guard seems prepared for her new role.

Flau'Jae Johnson spoke about her goals for the upcoming season in an interview with Fox News Digital.

"Year three, [my] college career is kind of coming to an end," she said. "It's crazy to say that. I'm an upperclassman now, but I'm just focusing on being in the best shape that I [can], definitely just being more consistent with my shot.
"I know the system, I know what I have to do. So, it's just about being a consistent player and now taking on a leadership role. Angel is no longer there, it's now me. I just have to take that on and try to be the best leader that I can."

At the same time, Flau'Jae Johnson is also pursuing her career as a rapper. After the successful debut of her EP, 'Best of Both Worlds,' the guard is learning to balance both careers.

"The better I play makes [people say], ‘Wow, she's actually doing both things at a high level," Johnson said. "So that's why I always say just keep the main thing the main thing because that's what drives that's what drives the engine."

While the LSU Tigers are in contention for an NCAA title, they will be facing heavy competition from UConn, USC, and South Carolina who have more talent-heavy rosters.
