Kim Mulkey, a four-time national champion coach, added another feather to her already impressive cap on Sunday when she earned her 100th win as the LSU head coach.

Mulkey, who is early in her fourth season leading the Tigers, reached the milestone with a 131-44 win over the North Carolina Central Eagles at PMAC.

The victory came in just her 114th game as LSU's coach, making her the fastest to reach 100 wins in program history among both men's and women's teams. It improved Kim Mulkey's overall record to 100-14 (.877), a huge accomplishment given she has only been with the program since the start of the 2021-22 season.

This feat is even more impressive when one considers the fact that Kim Mulkey has reached the milestone faster than some of the biggest names in college basketball history.

For instance, legendary Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski, aka Coach K, took 165 games to reach 100 wins with the Blue Devils, while Geno Auriemma, an eight-time National Coach of the Year, took 153 games to accomplish the same feat with the UConn Huskies.

Another Hall of Fame coach, Pat Summitt, took 131 games to reach 100 wins with the Tennessee Lady Vols. Mulkey also achieved this feat much quicker than South Carolina coach Dawn Staley and former Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer, who took 166 games and 137 games, respectively, to get to the 100-win mark.

Following the historic milestone, Kim Mulkey was quick to deflect the praise from herself and instead heap it on her coaching staff and players.

"The older I get the more I realize that the Bob Starkeys of the world keep me in coaching longer," Mulkey said, giving credit to her assistant. "I'm blessed that I haven't had much turnover in my career at Baylor and at LSU. I'm comfortable in delegating because they now know me."
"Throughout my career I've been blessed to coach players that believe in our system and what we do," she added. "Coming to LSU is not any different than when I was at Baylor for 20-plus years. Kids have to believe in you and let you coach them. All of those wins belong to them." she said.

Mulkey inherited a Lady Tigers team that had gone 9-13 in the season prior, including 6-8 in the SEC. However, in her first season at the helm, she led LSU to a 26-6 record and, in her second season, to a 34-2 mark, winning the NCAA championship.
