Kim Mulkey’s assistant coach Seimone Augustus gives a shoutout to “D2 Caitlin Clark” of the LSU team

LSU assistant coach Seimone Augustus made an appreciation post to student manager Catherine Legendre for her contribution to the Tigers' top form this season. In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Augustus called Legendre the "D2 Caitlin Clark" in reference to NCAA legend and 2023 WNBA draft top pick, and shared a photo of the two posing together.

The caption read:

"💜'MANAGER SPOTLIGHT'💛 Catherine Legendre AKA 'D2 Caitlin Clark' 🦞."

Student managers in college women's basketball do not play the game, but they are essential members of the team. Their duties include doing the laundry, driving players to class, working out with players and helping prepare scouting reports.

The No. 5-ranked LSU Tigers are 12-0 on the season and will face Seton Hall (8-2) on Tuesday. The game begins at 6 p.m. ET and will be shown live on FS1 and streamed on SECNetwork+.

Seimone Augustus reveals her coaching philosophy at LSU

Seimone Augustus is back at LSU where she began her basketball career. As an assistant coach on Kim Mulkey's team, she is known for connecting well with the coaching staff and players, including star guard, Flau'jae Johnson.

The LSU legend gave a glimpse of her coaching philosophy on Johnson's podcast, "Best of Both Worlds with Flau'jae," which was posted on YouTube.

"I think I'm like the voice of reason, I'm like the calm spirit on the staff. I'm honest. I'll y'all what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. If I had to sum it up, I'm a players' coach," she said on the podcast. (8:57)

Before becoming a coach, Augustus played for LSU and led the Tigers to three straight NCAA Final Fours from 2004 to 2006. She became the No. 1 pick for the WNBA draft that year. She won four championships with the Minnesota Lynx and earned three Olympic gold medals with the U.S. women's national team.

In 2023, Augustus became the first LSU female athlete to be honored with a statue on the LSU campus.
