Kiyan Anthony, a four-star basketball prospect from the 2025 class and son of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony, is ranked as the No. 28 player nationally, standing as New York’s top prospect. On Thursday, he revealed who his favorite players in the WNBA are.
Kiyan appeared on Thursday's episode of Angel Reese’s podcast, "Unapologetically Angel." The WNBA star asked him about his favorite players in the league and Anthony mentioned Reese, a New York Liberty star and the league's top scorer.
“Favorite players? Um, Sabrina [Ionescu]. Okay. Angel Reese, Diana Taurasi. Those are my favorite,” he said (28:32 mark).
Ionescu is a standout player for the Liberty, New York’s WNBA team, helping them win the championship in the 2024 season, while Reese made history with the Chicago Sky, setting multiple records for rebounds and double-doubles.
Diana Taurasi has enjoyed a legendary career, boasting three WNBA championships, six Olympic appearances, 11 All-Star selections and holds the title as the WNBA’s all-time leading scorer, with 10,646 points.
He then expressed his excitement over the Liberty’s recent championship run and their evolution as a team.
“It was fire. That was a good environment, being able to see the game go,” he said.
"The Liberty, they used to play, like, in a convention center ... my pops used to go, and I never wanted to go ‘cuz it was just dead, like, probably a thousand people in a convention center. It felt like a high school game. Then I think the new owner took over, and they moved to the Barclays Center, and now it's lit—feels like an NBA game now."
Kiyan Anthony expected to make his commitment soon
Ranked as the No. 31 overall prospect in the 2025 class and New York’s top player, Kiyan Anthony has attracted nationwide interest. Standing at 6-foot-5, he’s garnered over 20 offers.
In October, he said he had trimmed his list to three finalists: USC, Auburn and Syracuse, his dad's alma mater.
He had said that he was planning to announce his commitment around late October or early November.
Kiyan Anthony has played in high-profile events like the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League circuit, as well as the Peach Jam, SLAM Summer Classic and Rod Wave tournaments.
