Kiyan Anthony has dropped a few hot takes before. In February, the son of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony said in an interview that his GOAT was Paul George, not his father. And now Kiyan has once again picked over his father.
Overtime posted a video on Instagram asking the high school senior a few questions. One of them was to predict the score in a Game of 1: Bronny James and his father, LeBron James, vs. Kiyan and his father, Melo.
"I think Bron and Bronny will win to be honest," he said. "Just because Bron is still in the league, he still doing what he doing. I don't know. But it'll be a close game, I feel like 11-8, 11-7."
Fans in the comments could not believe that Kiyan Anthony would choose LeBron James and Bronny over him and his father.
"Kiyan destroys Bronny," a fan wrote.
Here are a few more fan reactions.
Kiyan Anthony was also asked if he had talked to Bronny since he was drafted into the Lakers.
"Na, I talked to Bryce. Excited for him," Anthony said.
He also expressed joy at the prospect of Bronny and LeBron playing as teammates. Anthony added that he was trying to do the same with his father, at least for Team USA.
"I've been trying to get him to play on USA. But he's not, he is still working out. He don't want to."
Carmelo Anthony shares he does not want his son, Kiyan, to be a one-and-done player
Kiyan Anthony is an incoming senior at Long Island Lutheran High School. He is reported to have received offers from nineteen colleges, including his father's alum, Syracuse, Florida State, Michigan, Ohio State and more.
In February, Carmelo Anthony talked about his son's college career in an episode of his 7 PM in Brooklyn podcast:
"I see the potential,” Melo said. “But just know there's a large chance that you're going to come in [to the NBA] and you're not going to play because you're just not prepared to be a pro yet. My son is going to college. I don't even preach one and done to him.
"We’re not even playing that game because I don't even want you to start thinking that right now. You start shortcutting s**t and you start rushing s**t, we ain't rushing nothing. You go to college. If you have to stay for two, if you have to stay for three, we go to college. We adapt as we go."
Carmelo Anthony spent one year with the Syracuse Orange before declaring for the 2003 NBA draft. He was picked No. 3 overall by the Denver Nuggets.
