Former UConn star Nika Muhl finished her rookie WNBA campaign with just two points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Although she had an underwhelming season, Muhl often made headlines off the court for her fashionable outfits.
On Wednesday, LeagueFits, a clothing brand in New York, revealed its award winners from the 2024 WNBA season. The Seattle Storm point guard made her name in two categories: the LeagueFits women's first team and the All-Rookie team.
"The first rookie to ever make a W all-leaguefits first team. @nika.muhl made waves on draft night and never looked back," the Instagram post by LeagueFits read.
Nika's younger sister, Hana Muhl, a junior guard for Manhattan Jaspers, was not surprised when her sibling was named the first WNBA rookie to be selected for the League Fits first team.
"knew it👑," Hana commented on the post.
Hana joined the Heather Vulin's Mahhattan in April as a sophomore transfer from Ball State.
Nika Muhl's fashion sense and stylish off-court outfits caught the eyes of many during her first professional season. Paige Bueckers, Muhl's former Husky teammate, also commented on her looks.
Last week on Instagram, the Croatian guard shared pictures of herself donning all black designer suit as she arrived for Seattle's Game 2 matchup against Las Vegas in the first-round playoffs.
"Amiri baddieeeee," Bueckers wrote.
Nika Muhl reflects on her rookie season in WNBA
Despite not making a single start in her first WNBA season for the Storm, Nika Muhl appeared in 16 games as a sub.
The 6-foot athlete had to wait till the final game of regular season to record her first WNBA points. Aganst the Phoenix Mercury at the Footprint Center, she scored two points, grabbed two rebounds and made three assists.
"I was very grateful. I was thankful that I was put in this situation. I could have easily not been on the team," Nika said after Seattle exit from the playoffs. "I could have easily went home and not being able to be a part of this environment, this team, the competitiveness and the playoffs.
"People look at it negatively so many times this year, and it’s easy to fall into that loop and a mindset or whatever. But I just didn’t let myself do that ever."
As her WNBA season comes to an end, Nika Muhl has gone back to Europe to play the Turkish Super League. She signed for Besiktas JK in May for the 2024-2025 season.
