Caitlin Clark is one of Jada Gyamfi's closest friends in Iowa, along with Kate Martin and Gabbie Marshall. The four stars have spoken of their close bond and have supported Clark through her most iconic moments, like SNL, the WNBA draft and more.
On Tuesday's episode of her "Fresh Tawk" podcast, Gyamfi did a Q&A as she got ready. One of the first questions the forward was asked was to share the story behind meeting Clark.
"I have known Caitlin since I was in probably late Elementary School, maybe Middle School," Gyamfi said, "Just because my sister and her are the same age, so they would always play against each other in AAU tournaments and we would go and watch because she was like insane.
"She would literally drop like 50 bombs against my sister's team and she was really fun to watch. At the end, once I got into high school it was like a whole different thing because she obviously got way more famous and way cooler and so she became just someone I watched to someone that I played against."
Jada Gyamfi also shared that the two played for the same AAU team, All Iowa Attack, and she eventually followed Clark to Iowa.
"We also played for the same club team," Gyamfi said. "So when I was in eighth grade she was in high school and she was on the top team, so she was like someone that we looked up to for that too so I knew her through club.
"Once she committed to Iowa, I committed shortly after her, kind of because I was waiting to see where she would go and I seized that opportunity to play with her and obviously it's brought me so many great things."

Jada Gyamfi is all set for the new season with the Iowa core
With Caitlin Clark, Kate Martin and Gabbie Marshall departing from college basketball, Jada Gyamfi lost her best friends. The Hawkeyes have undergone major changes as Jan Jensen took over as the new coach and five freshman recruits are joining the team.
With all this, Gyamfi revealed that she missed her former teammates, sharing:
“First day I was super emotional trying not to show it because I am really excited for the team we have this year and for the returners and the new kids, but I notice it (their absence) in the weirdest moments.
“It is so weird looking over and not seeing (Clark) there. And then with Kate I just (miss) her presence. Everyone always talks about her being the best leader and she genuinely is the best person, the best leader.”
Jada Gyamfi will begin her junior season with the Hawkeyes on Nov. 6 against Northern Illinois Huskies.
