Kyle Filipowski's brother and mom make allegations about Duke star being 'brainwashed' by fiancée Caitlin Hutchison

Kyle Filipowski was one of 24 prospects invited to attend the first round of the 2024 NBA draft on Wednesday. The former Duke Blue Devils center was one of two players - along with former Kansas Jayhawks guard Johnny Furphy - who were in the green room and did not hear their names called.

While he had to wait an extra day - this year's draft was the first time the draft was split into two days - Filipowski was the second player off the board in the second round. He landed 32nd overall with the Utah Jazz.

During his time in the green room on the first day of the draft, Filipowski was accompanied by his fiancée, Caitlin Hutchison. A video featuring her seemingly consoling the basketball player after the day's proceedings also surfaced online.

However, today, Filipowski's brother and mother - Daniel and Becky Filipowski - took to X. They alleged that the incoming rookie is being 'brainwashed' by his fiancée.

Daniel was the first to post, stating:

"I’m Kyle’s oldest brother..you all don’t have a clue of the extent of the story that has to do with his girlfriend. There’s a story that has been pushed under the table for nearly two years now."

He added:

"If Givony responds to my DMs, he would be able to get the full story that no one knows about outside of who’s involved, Duke coaching staff and his agent"

Finally, Kyle's older brother made accusations of him being brainwashed:

"Other than messaging him on his IG account, don’t know how to get in touch with him. But look up and read on Mormon grooming and brainwashing and you’ll find some introductory details in there to connect some dots into the story that is going on here."

Becky later chimed in on her own, claiming:

"you are opening a two year issue...and she is 28 with an endgame 3 years ago to have a diamond ring on her hand when Kyle left Duke. HE WAS STILL IN HS"

Kyle Filipowski's brother responds to post sharing his tweets

Kyle Filipowski's family was not done airing their issues about his relationship. In response to the post that shared their tweets, Daniel Filipowski claimed that the family was provided with an email that served as an official 'goodbye letter':

"No sir..you got it backwards. She forced him to cut us off from his life almost two years ago. Sent us an email and everything. Basically the official 'goodbye letter'."

It is unclear how the situation affected Kyle Filipowski's draft stock, or if teams were even aware of the ongoing conflict. The former Duke Blue Devils center will likely be forced to deal with plenty of noise as he adjusts to life in the NBA with the Utah Jazz.
