On August 1, Paige Bueckers signed a historic NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) deal with Unrivaled Basketball. In a promotional video posted on Unrivaled's official Twitter page, Bueckers discusses the venture over the phone. However, it wasn’t her words that caught fans' attention. Instead, viewers humorously critiqued her makeup.

Unrivaled Basketball is a new 3x3 league founded by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier. Bueckers was the first NCAA player to sign an NIL deal with the league which also gives her equity ownership of the league.

Here's what fans had to say about the makeup:

One fan said, "Fire the make up artist immediately."
"Her makeup looks a mess. Why yall do my girl like this," an X user said.
"I'll have a word with the makeup artist," another fan said.
"No one can do her makeup right. Gimme the damn brushes," a fan wrote.
"Fire that makeup artist," a user tweeted.
"Who is doing the makeup," another X user said.
"Let us retire whichever makeup artist that made her orange," one fan wrote.
"I just need a moment with the makeup artist," another fan said.
"Why is my queen orange? Let's fire the makeup artist thank you," an X user wrote.

Unrivaled will launch with six franchises and a roster of 36 players. Founding players will receive equity ownership in the league and the salary cap will start at $7.5 million with the average player salary being around $250,000.

The initial roster boasts a lineup of standout talent, including Napheesa Collier, Breanna Stewart, Chelsea Gray, Arike Ogunbowale, Jewell Loyd, Rhyne Howard, Kahleah Copper, Jackie Young, and Angel Reese.

While Bueckers is making headlines for her NIL deal, she’s also celebrating another milestone, the release of her signature Nike Player Edition shoe. The sneakers made its on-court debut during the Women’s Champions Classic at Barclays Center, where UConn defeated Louisville 85-52. Paige Bueckers and her teammates debuted the shoe during the win on Sunday.

The launch of the signature shoe made Bueckers the first college basketball player to have this honor. Officially released on Saturday, the sneakers feature a multicolor design incorporating baby blue and lavender purple. The shoe pays tribute to her roots, with the area codes — “860” for UConn and “612” for her hometown of Edina, Minnesota — featured on the left tongue.

On the court, Bueckers has shown her brilliance leading the Huskies to an unbeaten start. She is projected to be the No.1 pick in the 2025 WNBA draft. The UConn Huskies are gearing up for their next challenge as they take on Notre Dame on Thursday.
