Lauren Betts and the top-ranked UCLA Bruins continued their perfect start to the 2024-25 NCAA season on Sunday, beating the Nebraska Cornhuskers 91-54 in their Big Ten home opener at Pauley Pavilion. Betts, who missed UCLA's last two outings because of a leg injury, scored a game-high 21 points in 28 minutes of action. She came close to recording her eighth double-double of the season, grabbing eight rebounds against Nebraska. She also had two steals and an assist.

Betts shot 8-for-15 from the floor and knocked down five of her seven free-throw attempts. She has now shot above 50% from the field in 10 of her last 11 games for the Bruins. Betts had trouble controlling the basketball in her first game back from injury, committing four turnovers.

Below are her stats from the game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Lauren Betts' strong start propels undefeated UCLA to another win

Lauren Betts did most of her damage in the first half, scoring 13 of her 21 points during that period. The Cornhuskers kept it close, however, with the Bruins building a 37-30 lead at the break. UCLA pulled away in the second half, outscoring Nebraska 54-24 in the third and fourth quarters to preserve its unbeaten record.

It wasn't just Betts who punished Nebraska's defense. Kiki Rice had a perfect outing, scoring 18 points on 8-for-8 shooting. She also made all six of her free-throw attempts against the Huskers. Timea Gardiner and Londynn Jones contributed off the bench, scoring 15 and 11 points, respectively.

Betts has been a vital cog for the Bruins on the offensive end, scoring at least 20 points in six of the 11 games she has played for UCLA thus far this season. She reached that mark in the wins over Colgate, Arkansas, Fresno State, Washington, Long Beach State and Nebraska. She is the team's leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 19.9 points and 9.8 boards.
