The Duke Blue Devils assembled at the Coach K Court in Cameron Indoor Stadium on Tuesday, preparing for the 2024-25 season. Incoming freshman Cooper Flagg joined Tyrese Proctor, Kon II Knueppel, Mason Gillis, Caleb Foster and more for the session.

The Duke Instagram handle posted pictures from the day with the caption:

"📍 SQUAD’S HERE 🚧😈"

Former Duke guard, Jared McCain commented:

"LETSSS GOOOO"

McCain is preparing for the 2024 NBA draft scheduled for June 26-27. According to ESPN's latest mock draft, Jared McCain is a projected No.13 pick going to the Sacramento Kings.

"McCain, one of the best shooter/scorers in this draft, who happens to hail from Sacramento has an easy niche he can fill in the NBA with his scoring versatility, basketball instincts, competitiveness and smarts, making him an attractive option at No. 13."
"I personally prefer McCain to the guards left on the board in my scenario such as Walter, Dillingham and Isaiah Collier. McCain might not be quite as flashy or have the same level of upside, but teams should know exactly what they're getting. He's going to make shots and raise the basketball IQ of whoever else is on the floor with him, and there's intangible upside in that."

In his lone freshman year at Duke, McCain averaged 14.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals while shooting 46.2% from the floor and 41.4% from the three-point range.

Duke enters the 2024-25 season as a top contender for the national title

After a Sweet 16 exit in the 2024 March Madness, seven players from the Duke roster, including Jeremy Roach, entered the transfer portal. Most experts speculated that this exodus could be the effect of No. 1 Cooper Flagg committing to the Blue Devils.

Duke's game plan for the next season is expected to be around the projected No. 1 pick for the 2025 draft and it is possible that some players were not comfortable with it. However, Coach Jon Scheyer has made some important moves bringing in Maliq Brown, Sion James and Mason Gillis from the transfer portal.

Along with Flagg, Patrick Ngongba II and Khaman Maluach make up the incoming freshmen. Tyrese Proctor and Caleb Foster are the only returning Duke players with starting experience. In his latest report, 247Sports' Issac Trotter placed Duke in the Tier I category with the highest chances of winning the championship. He wrote:

"Cooper Flagg will be the best player, but do not be surprised if Caleb Foster leads this team in scoring. Duke should be a monster defensively with Flagg flying around on the back end, Tyrese Proctor hounding lead guards and All-ACC defender Maliq Brown dousing fires."

The other teams on the list are Alabama, Kansas, UConn, Houston, Gonzaga and Auburn
