The LSU Tigers team and coach Kim Mulkey took an offseason trip to Croatia ahead of the start of the 2024-2025 season. The controversial coach fell short of another national championship run last season when her team lost to the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.
Off the court, the Tigers coach shared cute throwback pictures on Instagram of her daughter, Makenzie Fuller, while celebrating her birthday on Monday.
The post was captioned:
"Wishing a very Happy Birthday to my daughter @makenzie.fuller!! One of my greatest joys is watching you be an amazing mother to Kannon and Sage! I hope you have an amazing day! 🎂🥳," Kim Mulkey wrote.
Makenzie Fuller is Mulkey's daughter by her ex-husband Randy Robertson. She has a brother, Kramer Robertson, and two children, Kannon Reid (2018) and Sage Avery (2022).
Kim Mulkey's controversial family history
During the LSU Tigers' 2024 NCAA run, there was controversy surrounding coach Kim Mulkey once again when a tell-all story about the coach's life was published by The Washington Post.
Kent Babb, the reporter who wrote the piece, claimed that the Tigers coach was estranged from her father, Les Mulkey, and had not spoken to him in 37 years, which led to him sneaking into some of her games to see her teams in action.
During her UCLA postgame news conference, the flashy Mulkey claimed that Babb had contacted her family members without her approval and called out his behavior.
"The lengths he has gone to try to put a hit piece together," Mulkey said. "After two years of trying to get me to sit with him for an interview, he contacts LSU on Tuesday as we were getting ready for the first-round game of this tournament with more than a dozen questions, demanding a response ... right before we're scheduled to tip off. Are you kidding me?
"Not many people are in a position to hold these kinds of journalists accountable, but I am, and I'll do it."
The outspoken Mulkey further revealed that the story was a hit piece and threatened to sue the Post.
"Imagine that. Must have thought y'all would look at it, get some clicks or be a distraction," Mulkey said. "I haven't read it and I probably won't read it. I probably will have my attorneys communicate with me to see if there's anything in there that we need to be concerned about."
Kim Mulkey is no stranger to controversy and has courted it in both her professional life, which has spanned over forty years, and her personal life.
