Kim Mulkey's LSU Tigers kept their perfect record intact with a win over Albany on Saturday. At PMAC, the No. 6 Tigers cruised to an 83-61 victory over the Great Danes, ending their nonconference slate on a high note (15-0).

Following the game, Mulkey took to the podium to answer questions from reporters. One reporter asked about how her assistant coach Bob Starkey had filled in for her during a postgame press conference a couple of weeks ago, which led to Mulkey jokingly taking a jab at her old age.

"Did y'all rather him? Y'all can have him," she said (10:17). "He does good, and in fact, I can get home if it's not in my contract that I have to come do this. The older I get, you know, what y'all think?"

Kim Mulkey did not attend LSU's postgame presser on Dec. 15 due to illness, following their blowout win over Louisiana. Assistant Bob Starkey stepped in for the Hall of Fame coach that day and faced the media.

A few days later, Mulkey even joked about missing the presser, attributing the team's performance as the reason she skipped it.

"It’s a good thing Coach Starkey filled in for me. I wasn’t feeling good and probably the way we played had a lot to do with it as well. He was very blunt as I am," Mulkey said (via Off The Bench on 104.5 ESPN)"

Kim Mulkey's Lady Tigers keep their undefeated streak alive

The last time Kim Mulkey and the LSU Tigers were undefeated in the nonconference schedule in 2022-23, they went on to win the national championship.

With the win over Albany, LSU improved to 15-0, finishing their nonconference schedule flawless for the second time under coach Mulkey. Except for their tougher matchup against Washington, NC State and Stanford, they have steamrolled every team they've faced so far.

The Tigers will enter SEC play ranked No. 6 in the country and will play Arkansas on the road to kick things off on Jan. 2.

"We have lots that we have to improve on. Our schedule didn't do us any favors," Kim Mulkey talked about the upcoming conference play (10:48). "We have to go on the road to play a lot of good teams in the league."
"Arkansas is our focus right now. They have, I think, the leading scorer in the SEC. Every time you play an SEC team, it's going to be just a dogfight."

Izzy Higginbottom, a Razorbacks senior guard, is the conference's leading scorer at 23.4 points per game, while LSU's offense is led by Flau'Jae Johnson's 20.5 ppg.
