Flau'jae Johnson is all about family, and her latest Instagram activity is more proof of that. The LSU star hopped onto her little brother's Instagram comments to admire his back-to-school fashion fit on Tuesday.
She dropped two words, "Fresh twin."
Flau'jae Johnson and Kailyn Gilbert lift LSU to win over Auburn
Flau'jae Johnson and the No. 6 LSU Tigers beat Auburn 73-63 on Sunday, with guard Kailyn Gilbert making a huge impact off the bench.
The game started rough for LSU. In the first quarter, turnovers and forced shots allowed Auburn to go on a 7-0 run. By the end of the quarter, LSU trailed 16-11, with six turnovers already.
Things turned around in the second quarter, thanks to Gilbert and Aneesah Morrow. Stronger defense and aggressive offense helped LSU outscore Auburn by 19 points in the quarter. Auburn shot just 21% and committed six turnovers, while LSU shot 67%.
Gilbert shined in just six minutes, scoring 11 points, including a smooth midrange jumper just before halftime.
LSU kept up its strong offense in the fourth quarter, with Flau'jae Johnson and Mikaylah Williams stepping up in the final minutes to secure the lead. Auburn tried to stage a late comeback, but the Tigers' advantage was too much to overcome.
Kailyn Gilbert credited her hard work for her standout performance. She finished with 17 points, shooting 8-for-10, in just 17 minutes.
"I trust the work I’ve put in," she said. "When I’m on the court, it feels like I’m shooting into an ocean."
LSU coach Kim Mulkey also had high praise for the guard.
"KG can score as well as any perimeter player I’ve ever coached," she said.
Morrow also had a big game, scoring 21 points on 9-for-12 shooting, grabbing 14 rebounds and adding three steals.
After the win, Mulkey shared a favorite quote that reflects her team’s approach:
"It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit."
Up next, Flau'jae Johnson and the LSU Tigers (17-0, 2-0 Southeastern Conference) will visit the No. 16 Tennessee Volunteers (13-1, 1-1) on Thursday.
