One of Flau'jae Johnson's musical performances this summer came through the halftime show at Overtime's first-ever women's SELECT championship game. So, when Johnson summarized her outing in Atlanta and her sentiments around the inaugural tournament on her "Best of Both Worlds" podcast, she also took time to acknowledge her unique outfit.
Johnson was dressed in a flared denim outfit, composed of ribbed denim segments from top to bottom.
"I was so excited to perform at the first-ever Overtime Select Championship," Johnson said. "It was the inaugural season, it was beautiful like, I live for stuff like that. I'm a real deal performer and my outfit ate. Somebody said I looked like Bigfoot but it ate. Bigfoot high fashion," she added.
With dancers to compliment her appearance and a spotlight to retain attention on her, Flau'jae Johnson performed four songs from her debut album, “Best of Both Worlds.”
She began with "Legendary Flows" and "Pop It" before topping it with “Karma” and “AMF.” 2Rare and NLE Choppa, who featured in the latter two compositions were not in the vicinity.
Johnson claims that she has been heavily involved in Overtime's aim to give young girl hoopers the same platform as the boys playing in the AAU-circuit. Moreover, in August, Johnson and Paige Bueckers collaborated to coach opposing teams in the Overtime Select takeover game.
Flau'jae Johnson matches Paige Bueckers' NIL valuation
Earlier this summer, Johnson climbed to the top of NIL earners in women's college basketball. Her massive success in leveraging her Name, Image and Likeness to benefit herself and her partners was one of the reasons she was picked to represent basketball in Amazon's "Money Game."
Deals with the upcoming Unrivaled 3x3 tournament, StockX and Madison Reed thursted Paige Bueckers back on the top.
However, as of September 24, Johnson's NIL valuation matched Paige Buecker's $1.4 million. The two are currently sharing the top 2 spots in women's basketball and the 13th and 14th spots on NIL's top-100 list, which includes high school and college players from all sports.
Flau'jae Johnson was listed at $1.3 million a few weeks ago by On3. However, her stock saw an 8% increase last weekend, putting her alongside Paige Bueckers.
