LSU star Flau'jae Johnson gets honored with intersection named after her in hometown Savannah

Flau'jae Johnson has been shining the spotlight on Savannah through her multi-industry success. A native of the oldest city in Georgia, Johnson has shot to fame this offseason. The highly skilled guard from the LSU Tigers became a musical sensation this summer.

For that, Johnson's home honored her by naming a street after her. Starting Aug. 24, the intersection at 425 W. Montgomery Cross Road will now be called the Flau’Jae Johnson Intersection. Georgia’s State Representative Carl Gilliard initiated the renaming in April 2023.

The honor also comes in light of Johnson's positive influence in Savannah. Johnson donated $10,000 to the Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club last month. She also gifted basketball sneakers, jerseys, backpacks and other sporting goods worth around $100,000.

In July, Johnson attended the Coastal Empire High School Sports Awards show. She was named the Female Volunteer of the Year by LSU last year for her community engagement and earned a key to the city as well.

Flau'jae Johnson’s charitable gestures start at home

Even before Johnson could shell out significant donations and gifts to the community, she always wanted to put people around her in a better position. A glimpse of that was when she appointed her mother, Kia Brooks, as her sports agent.

Be it Johnson's first major deal with Puma or the two instant ones after her performance in LSU’s championship run (Raising Cane’s and Campus Ink), Brooks negotiated it all. She also solidified partnerships with Meta and Taco Bell. Even when the deals and endorsements increased, Johnson ensured her mom spearheaded these important decisions.

Johnson employed a team of advisors on her payroll this offseason. The primary objective of the squad is to help her build her brand by using market trends, her in-game performance metrics and her overall impact. This eases Brooks’ workload, allowing her to focus on cracking new deals and partnerships.
