Flau’jae Johnson added another job title to her resume when she took the role as a coach for Overtime's Next Up 5s event. The guard/rapper led her team of high school talents against UConn's Paige Bueckers on Friday and lost, 105-102.

This was her second time donning the cap of a coach as she participated in the same event last year. Despite the disappointing result, videos and clippings from the event circulating online show that both the team's coaches and its players enjoyed the evening, as they got the opportunity to interact. And it looks like Flau’jae Johnson may already have a favorite high schooler of the bunch.

The LSU guard reposted her photo with one of the players on her team, Jezelle "GG" Banks, and wrote:

"Y'all go check out my new fav hs hooper"

GG Banks was the star of Team Flau'jae at Overtime Select as she had 25 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists.

Banks is an incoming sophomore at Ursuline Academy. She is one of the 2027 class' top recruits and has received offers from Ole Miss, Texas, Marquette, Louisville, South Carolina, Ohio State, LSU, Notre Dame, Florida State and Maryland, per On3 and Yahoo Sports.

Banks was named the Gatorade Delaware Girls Basketball Player of the Year as a freshman. She averaged 22.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.4 steals per contest.

Paige Bueckers impressed Flau’jae Johnson with her pick-up game skills

In a video posted by Overtime on Instagram, Paige Bueckers is seen playing a round of pick-up game when she makes a well-timed, behind-the-back dribble to shake off the defender and score a bucket. The move shocked everyone on the court, including Flau’jae Johnson, who said:

"You not real. That motherf***er is not real."

Both Flau’jae Johnson and Paige Bueckers are preparing to lead their respective teams, the LSU Tigers and UConn Huskies, to a championship win in the 2024-25 season. The Tigers won their last title in 2023 and failed to defend it last season.

The Huskies, meanwhile, last won in 2015. They came close the previous season before the Iowa Hawkeyes sent UConn packing after the Final Four. The upcoming season will be Bueckers' last chance to win a title as she prepares for her WNBA transition.

Flau’jae Johnson has two more years in college, but the guard revealed on her "Best of Both Worlds" podcast that she would consider graduating early if she wins a title again.

While the Huskies will be one of the biggest opponents on her quest to the championship, Johnson and the Tigers will also face heavy competition from South Carolina and USC.
