Lucy Olsen may be disappointed about No. 23 Iowa's 74-66 defeat to an undefeated No. 8 Maryland on Sunday. However, she did not let the loss get in the way of appreciating an Instagram post on Tuesday. The post featured photos from the game alongside a caption that praised Maryland's Kaylene Smikle who scored a game-high 26 points to bury the Hawkeyes' hopes for a second straight win.

"Game frames from Iowa vs. Maryland 📸 this 14-0 @terpswbb team is the real deal. Specifically, Maryland’s @kaylene.smikle (#2) who was co-Big Ten Player of the Week, averaging 19.3 PTS, 4 REB, 3.7 STL and a season-high 26 PTS vs the Hawks."

Olsen joined others to post a short but sweet comment. The Iowa star simply posted a star-struck emoji.

Lucy Olsen reacts to Iowa's loss vs Maryland

Iowa came up short against Maryland inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Sunday. Lucy Olsen led the Hawkeyes with 19 points.

Hot shooting from the Terrapins forced the Hawkeyes to trail late in the first half. Maryland closed the half with a commanding 48-27 lead.

The Hawkeyes started the second half strong, cutting the Terrapins' lead to 12 points. Despite their gallant efforts, they could only manage to get the game within single digits which was not enough to stop the visitors from walking away with the win.

Following the game, Olsen and teammate Syd Affolter talked about Iowa's tough outing.

"I think like Syd said, we just have to talk about it, figure it out," Olsen said in the postgame conference. "Obviously, some things going to be able to be changed. But they're [Maryland] a good team. We just got to, yeah, come out stronger." (0:42)
