Lucy Olsen picked up her third 20-point game in four nights, leading the No. 22 Iowa Hawkeyes to a 92-86 win over the Northern Iowa Panthers on Friday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City.
Olsen scored 21 points on 7-of-16 shooting, including 2-of-5 from the 3-point line, to lead the Hawkeyes to their 10th victory in 12 games and stretched their home winning streak to five games this season.
The Villanova transfer picked up six rebounds and seven assists in an all-around game, which helped her bounce back from a poor shooting night against Michigan State last Sunday.
Olsen scored seven points in the first two quarters, as she concentrated on distributing the ball to her open teammates. She also recorded five assists and three rebounds in the first 20 minutes, helping Iowa build a 53-37 advantage.
The Hawkeyes couldn't sustain their hot start, with the Panthers chipping away the deficit to eight points 70-62 at the end of the third period. Olsen helped Iowa sustain the advantage, scoring nine points on 4 of 9 shooting.
Iowa's lead dwindled further as Northern Iowa continued its spirited surge. Olsen buried a jumper that gave the Hawkeyes an 83-79 edge with 3:32 remaining and made three of four free throws in the dying seconds to preserve the win.
