While Angel Reese made headlines, Aneesah Morrow also did a lot of the damage for the LSU Tigers last season. The 6-foot-1 guard averaged a double-double of 16.4 points and 10.0 rebounds throughout the 2023-24 stretch. One of Morrow's consistent areas was pestering opposing guards throughout the game and easing things on both ends of the court.

The two-way guard shared her backcourt collaboration with Flau'jae Johnson while recording an exclusive for The Bengal Tiger. Morrow said that she studied the opponent's tendencies and baited them into passing the ball. Moreover, she mentioned Johnson always kept her on her toes with friendly competition.

“I would say my IQ with that since I've been working on it since high school is very good,” Morrow said. “I try to bait a lot of my opponents into passing the ball and kind of paying attention to their body language. Of course, in the film as well. I watch a lot of film and just see how my opponents are.”
“And I feel like me and Flau’jae kind of took that challenge on because she was like ‘I'm gonna get more steals than you today’ and I'm like ‘No, you're not getting more steals than me today.’ So, we kind of put that that challenge, especially on the wing and with me being able to switch off as well.” (8:48)

Kim Mulkey has a new role for Aneesah Morrow

Morrow was honored with the All-Southeastern Conference first team with the SEC Player of the Year, Angel Reese. Now, as LSU operates without Reese, Kim Mulkey is looking at Morrow to fill the leadership void.

"She told me she wants me to be more of a vocal leader,” Morrow said in the same interview. “She knows that I lead by example and my teammates will follow, but she wants me to be more verbal. And that's something I've been working on in practice. I've gotten a lot better at it, actually."

Morrow knows the responsibilities, pressure and heat that can come with leading a team. Playing her initial two years with DePaul Blue Demons, she led the program behind nearly 24 points per game, 13.0 rebounds per game and 2.7 steals on 46.3% shooting.
