Hanna Cavinder congratulated her twin sister, Haley Cavinder, after she was named the Atlantic Coast Conference's Player of the Week. Voted by the league's Blue Ribbon Panel, the Miami Hurricanes senior guard earned the award for her high-level play from Dec. 16 to Dec. 22. It is the 5-foot-6 guard's first conference POTW honor this season.
As the Hurricanes' Instagram handle shared the update with fans, Hanna Cavinder left a one-word comment to reflect her sentiments.
"Queen," she wrote.
With the honor, Cavinder joins Notre Dame's Olivia Miles and Hannah Hidalgo, Duke's Reigan Richardson and Florida State's Makayla Timpson and Ta’Niya Latson as the winners of the award this season.
Haley's award comes in light of Cavinder's back to back double-double performances in the Maui Classic games. The guard posted 25 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists on 68.8% shooting against the Nevada Wolf Pack on Thursday.
She posted a similar stat line the next day against the Oregon State Beavers, posting 20 points, 12 rebounds and five assists on 47.1%. With that, Cavinder was also named the Most Valuable Player of the Maui Classic.
Haley and Hanna Cavinder are eligible to enter the 2025 WNBA draft
Haley and Hanna Cavinder are two of the biggest names in women’s college basketball and are eligible to take their basketball journey to the next level. The twins constantly make noise with their on-court efforts to push the Hurricanes and have also garnered a massive social media presence, making them the perfect addition to a WNBA roster.
Both the sisters are 23 years old, above the WNBA age restriction of 22 years around draft eligibility. While it is their last season of basketball in college, the twins have yet to declare a plan for their future. Both of them also have a modeling and entrepreneurial career, which is something they could pursue full-time after college.
Haley Cavinder is 5 FC 18.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 5.5 assists on 49.4% shooting this season. Meanwhile, Hannah Cavinder is averaging 7.8 points, 4.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds on 48% shooting.
