In Sunday's Dec. 11 matchup between the South Carolina Gamecocks (9-0) and the TCU Horned Frogs (8-1), the former is showcasing why they're defending champions. Despite looking like they could challenge the Gamecocks after their 9-0 start that includes a win over Notre Dame, TCU is shooting poorly from the field as of writing, with just 31.6% overall and 21.4% from the 3-point arc.
South Carolina guard MiLaysia Fulwiley has locked up the Horned Frogs with her pesky on-ball defense, as she already has three steals while limiting TCU star Hailey Van Lith to just 13 points on 5-for-13 shooting with five turnovers.
The Gamecocks faithful rejoiced on social media:
"Milaysia Fulwiley got Hailey Vanlith in cuffs. Word to South Carolina," one user wrote.
"MILAYSIA FULWILEY PLUCKED THE HELL OUTTA THAT WOMAN," another fan exclaimed.
"South Carolina's MiLaysia Fulwiley picks HVL's pocket and hits a fast break lay up. SC is the defending champs for a reason," another explained.
"MiLaysia Fulwiley. Just such a dynamic player who hasn’t even really reached peak form yet, and she’s so good," a journalist posted."
"TCU getting cooked and Milaysia Fulwiley balling out absolutely," one fan shared.
