After suffering their first loss of the season to the South Carolina Gamecoks, Flau'jae Johnson and the LSU Tigers bounced back with a 64-51 win over the Texas A&M Aggies on Sunday. Johnson singled out freshman Jada Richard's performance during the postgame press conference.
On Monday, the Instagram fan page flaujae_1fanpage posted a clip of Johnson speaking highly of Richard’s abilities. In the video, Johnson said:
“I was really happy about Jada. She's just so confident in what she does. So, you know, we encourage her to shoot the ball. She got a clip, she can shoot that thing. So we just believe in her to be able to make decisions, even as a freshman.
"I'm just so glad that she got those minutes and she was able to do what she do, but that's when people have to step up... I think Jada really managed the time really well.”
The video caught the attention of Flau'jae Johnson's mother, Kia Brooks, who reposted it on her Instagram story. She also added an emoji while tagging Jada Richard, of whom she is a fan.
Johnson led the charge against the Aggies as she finished with 22 points and grabbed five rebounds.
Freshman Jada Richard also contributed significantly, stepping up when three LSU starters faced foul trouble early on. Richard came off the bench to score seven points and provided a spark during crucial moments.
The Tigers now prepare for their next challenge against No. 15 Oklahoma, with the game set for Thursday night and airing at 7 p.m. ET.

Kia Brooks has previously reacted positively to Jada Richard on social media. Last month, she commented on a highlight play by the freshman against NC Central.
"Let's get it," Kia Brooks wrote.
Meanwhile, Flau'jae Johnson's stepdad, Ameen Brooks, is also a big Richard backer. He said as much in an IG story he posted after LSU's win over Texas A&M.
"I believe," Ameen Brooks wrote.
In 19 games this season for the Tigers, Richard is averaging 3.3 points and 0.9 assists in 8.5 minutes per game.
