Fans reacted as the Iowa Hawkeyes won their 12th game of the season on Wednesday, beating the Penn State Lady Lions 80-68.
Opening the year strong was junior Hannah Stuelke, who powered her squad to victory with a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds to go with four assists and two stocks (steals and blocks).
With the way she played in Iowa's first game of 2025, fans have raved on Stuelke, as they are in support of the new crop of Hawkeyes stars, which includes the third-year forward.
"It was more fun watching Hannah than the boring CFP!," one fan captioned calling out the recent slew of college football playoff games.
"#StuelkeSmooth," a user claimed with another fan jokingly replied with, "#IncredibleStuelk."
"Don’t mess with Hannah. Go Hawks," another user wrote.
"Hannah!! Great game!," a user posted.
"ANOTHER double double! Get some, Hannah!," one fan exclaimed.
As more of the Hawkeyes faithful are taking note of Stuelke's performance, the standout stalwart could that as added fuel in her outstanding outputs this season. She's averaging 13.6 points, 7.4 boards and 2.8 assists per game.
Winning the first Big Ten Conference game of the campaign is a sign of good things to come for Stuelke, the Hawkeyes are seeking redemption since losing in last year's NCAA national finals.
The Jan Jensen-coached squad will hope to return to college basketball's biggest stage this year and hope to finish the job this time. With players like Stuelke stepping up, they might just do that come March.
Different Iowa Hawkeyes have stepped up in the post-Caitlin Clark era
The last four years for the Iowa Hawkeyes have had former college sensation and now Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark at the helm of the team's playbook. Since her departure to the WNBA, a slew of players have stepped up to fulfill the hole she left — showcasing the program's depth.
Besides Stuelke, senior guard Lucy Olsen has taken on the scoring duties, averaging 17.5 points, 3.7 caroms and 5.2 dimes per game. Meanwhile, fourth-year swingman Addison O'Grady is making her presence felt on both ends of the floor, posting up 13.3 markers, 5.2 boards and 1.5 blocks a contest.
Even without Clark's unmatched scoring, it seems Iowa could make another deep national tournament run, having gone 12-2 so far. It faces the Maryland Terrapins next for the continuation of conference play on Sunday.
