Shelomi Sanders will begin her career with the Alabama A&M women's basketball team in the upcoming season. Deion Sanders’ last child transferred from Colorado this offseason after getting limited playing time in 2023-24 to team up with the Bulldogs.
With the season fast approaching, Sanders is set to get her collegiate career on track. She took part in the Southwestern Athletic Conference women’s basketball media day on Thursday in Atlanta, showcasing her anticipation.
Deion Sanders' ex-wife and Shelomi’s mother, Pilar Sanders, showered some love on her daughter, sharing a slideshow from the event, on Instagram on Sunday:

Shelomi Sanders’ move to Alabama A&M
Shelomi Sanders transferred to Colorado from Jackson State after Deion Sanders was hired as the coach of the Buffaloes football in December 2023.
Shelomi played two games and 10 minutes at Jackson State (21-10), which won the SWAC, in 2022-23. She played in five games, totaling 10 points in 12 minutes, taking a redshirt in Boulder with anticipation of becoming an important part of the team in 2024-25. CU (24-10) reached the Sweet 16 last season.
However, the guard made a bold and unexpected move by entering the transfer portal in April.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank my creator for allowing me to have this platform with amazing experiences," Shelomi said. “I want to thank my coaches and the university for accepting me to be a part of the family, it’s been a blessing accomplishing as much as we did.
“I would like to thank my family and my support system for always uplifting and pouring into me on and off the court as a student-athlete. My time at Colorado has been a treat with amazing experiences along the way. With intentional consideration and prayer, I have decided to enter the transfer portal.”
Why did Shelomi Sanders transfer?
While Shelomi Sanders' transfer was surprising, she believed it was something she had to do. The guard disclosed in an August interview that last year was challenging for her in Boulder. She needed a new and much more comfortable environment.
“I don’t want to say anything too bad,” Sanders said. “It just wasn’t good energy. It wasn’t good vibes. There wasn’t enough being poured into me as a player and young lady. If I didn’t leave when I did, I promise you I would’ve quit.”
Shelomi said she realized it was the right time to move on after receiving some candid feedback from her mother, Pilar Sanders. She’s now set to pivot her college career away from the rest of her family, who all continue in Boulder.
