Caitlin Clark's path to greatness started from her high school days when the guard showed flashes of her future potential. In midst of her record-breaking run in the WNBA, Overtime compiled highlights from her AAU career with the All-Iowa Attack.
"Felt like time traveling today with this one 😌 Caitlin’s BEEN HER," the caption read.
Clark reacted to the video in the comments:
"Thank goodness my form changed wow…"
Caitlin Clark was considered Iowa's best high school player. She led All-Iowa Attack to a Nike GEYBL national championship in 2018, along with runner-up spots in 2017 and 2019. Her best game came as a junior when she scored 60 points and went 13-for-17 from beyond the arc.
Jan Jensen, played a crucial role in Clark's recruitment into the Iowa Hawkeyes, recalled one of her first times she saw the guard playing, via AP:
“It didn’t take but a second, maybe a minute. That little step-back sassy 3, this little seventh-, eighth-grader. Yeah, she’s diff. You could just tell. They’re easy to identify but really hard to get. Everybody can see the true, true ones. The trick is to get them.”
Caitlin Clark creates history as the first rookie with two triple-doubles
Wednesday was a historic night for Caitlin Clark as she broke two records during the 93-86 win over the LA Sparks. She became the fastest and the first rookie in WNBA history to reach 100 3-pointers in one season. She is the sixth overall player to achieve this feat.
Clark finished the night with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, recording her second triple-double this season. With this, she became the first rookie and fifth WNBA player to do so, joining Courtney Williams, Sabrina Ionescu, Candace Parker and Alyssa Thomas.
“Of course I knew [I had a triple double], but honestly, like, we were just trying to get stops,” she said after the win.
The Indiana Fever have been on an incredible run post-break and are 7-1 in that span, including a five-game win streak. For the first time since 2016, the Fever secured their spot in the playoffs.
"Definitely, cool," the guard said (via Fox News). "It doesn't even have to come down to the wire for us, and I think that's special. Like you can just relax and play basketball and have a lot of fun. Yeah, we accomplished that, but there's still so much more left on the table."
The Fever have six games left in the regular season before they start their postseason run.
