“My glorious queen”: Fans celebrate as JuJu Watkins gets honored for breaking record with special USC gesture

Last month, USC sophomore JuJu Watkins became the fastest Trojan to reach 1000 points. On Nov. 15, Watkins hit a jumper with 6:47 left in the third quarter of USC's game against Santa Clara to reach the 1,000-point mark in 38 games.

On Sunday, the 6-foot-2 guard was awarded the special ball by the school ahead of USC's game against Michigan at Galen Center. The Trojans' Instagram posted photos and a video of the special moment as Watkins was celebrated.

"1K JUJU! Celebrated JuJu becoming the fastest Trojan to 1K career points today," the post read.

Fans flocked to the comments section to congratulate Watkins on her accomplishment.

"My glorious queen," one fan wrote.

Last season, Watkins set the record for the most points scored by a freshman in NCAA history with 920. She averaged 27.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game to earn the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year award.

JuJu Watkins scores 31 points as USC beats Michigan in Big Ten showdown

On Sunday, the No. 4 Trojans continued their winning streak with a dominant 78–58 victory over No. 23 Michigan at Galen Center.

JuJu Watkins scored a game-high 31 points while also contributing five rebounds, seven assists and three blocks. The Los Angeles native connected on 8-of-19 shots from the field and 2-of-7 from beyond the arc while making 13-of-14 free throws.

With the win, USC improved to 12-1 overall and 2-0 in Pac-12, only losing to Hannah Hidalgo's Notre Dame.

Much like her freshman year, Watkins is on fire in her sophomore campaign. She leads the Trojans in points (25.2 ppg), assists (4.1 apg) and steals (2.5 spg).
