Caitlin Clark is the all-time leader in NCAA scoring following an incredible career with the Iowa Hawkeyes. However, there was a point when she considered playing for Notre Dame.

Before Clark committed to the Hawkeyes in 2020, she considered playing for the Fighting Irish as former head coach Muffet McGraw looked back on the experience of recruiting for the young star's services.

"I may still be coaching if Caitlin Clark came to Notre Dame. I remember it well, loved recruiting her," McGraw said during her January 14 appearance on Good Game With Sarah Spain. "When I went recruiting at [Clark's high school alma mater] Dowling Catholic, they waited on me ... it was amazing.
"I kept saying 'When is [the announcement] coming out?' And then when she made the announcement, she was going to Iowa. Of course, she called me first to tell me that she was going to [Iowa], the classy person that she is."

Basketball analyst Robin Lundberg reacted to those comments in a segment of The Robin Lundberg Show uploaded to YouTube on Wednesday.

"That was an interesting little tidbit as close as Notre Dame thought it was to happening," Lundberg said. "And look, I mean, if Caitlin had gone to UConn, there's no question in my mind they win.
"Notre Dame, who knows? Same deal, though. Anywhere she goes, she's greatly increasing the championship chances, but putting Iowa on the map the way she did, and building her own legacy, I do think was the right decision."

Caitlin Clark did alright with Iowa after choosing the program over Notre Dame

After four seasons with the Hawkeyes, Caitlin Clark left as the two-time AP National Player of the Year. Even though she never won the national championship, she led the Hawkeyes to back-to-back appearances in the championship game.

Besides being the all-time leader in career points, she also became the single-season leader in points and 3-pointers and broke the all-time Big Ten record in assists, while leading the nation in both points and assists.

Clark, who is entering her second season in the WNBA with the Indiana Fever, hopes to set new marks as her influence on the game grows.
