LSU Tigers’ coach Kim Mulkey took to social media to share her family-oriented side. In an Instagram post, Mulkey shared a carousel of wholesome moments with her grandchildren, calling them a “blessing” in her life. The posts showcased a softer, more personal side of the iconic coach, offering glimpses of her life away from the world of basketball.
One of the images showed Mulkey on the sidelines with her grandson against Auburn on Sunday. Her outfit, which has garnered attention in the media, featured a black sweater with an image of a basketball and a backboard, with a rim around her midsection and strands of a basketball net hanging off it. Mulkey expressed her gratitude for these cherished family moments.
“Being a grandparent is one of the biggest blessings in my life! Never a dull moment,” Kim Mulkey wrote.
The three-time AP College Coach of the Year joined LSU in 2021 and led the Tigers to an NCAA Championship in 2023. Mulkey will be gunning for another title as the Tigers are unbeaten this season.
Kim Mulkey praises Tennessee ahead of LSU's matchup against the Volunteers
LSU Tigers coach Kim Mulkey addressed the media on Tuesday to discuss No. 6-ranked LSU Tigers’ Thursday night SEC clash against the No. 16-ranked Tennessee Volunteers in Knoxville. Mulkey acknowledged the formidable challenge posed by Tennessee, emphasizing the unique style and offensive prowess of the Volunteers.
“Tennessee is very good,” Kim Mulkey said. “They have a ton of new players, about 10 transfers and their style of play is like nothing I have ever seen. They score a lot of points and make you play fast with their press.”
The Volunteers’ ability to dominate offensively has been a key element of their success, and Mulkey stressed the importance of her Tigers’ defense to counteract their high-scoring game.
“It’s going to be quite a challenge to keep them from scoring in the 90s,” Mulkey said. “We score a lot of points, but at some point, we’ve got to stop them from scoring as much as they’d like to.”
Mulkey also highlighted an interesting statistical contrast between both teams.
“I didn’t know that we lead the SEC in field goal percentage defense,” Mulkey noted. “And I didn’t know that Tennessee was last in field goal percentage defense.”
This revelation underscored the significance of defensive play in the upcoming matchup, as LSU looks to take advantage of its supposed defensive strength while capitalizing on Tennessee’s presumed weaknesses. The LSU Tigers will be aiming to extend their 17-0 record and Tennessee Volunteers will be looking to defend their home court and build on their 13-1 record.
