“No. Caitlin Clark puts up video game numbers”: Hoops fans show discontent despite Paige Bueckers getting one step closer to Maya Moore

Paige Bueckers took one step closer to breaking Maya Moore's record number of 25-point games on Wednesday, Nov. 27. It was Bueckers' 25th 25-point game at the college level, second only to UConn legend Maya Moore, per espnW.

Fans weren't as impressed and were quick to extinguish any hype, as they believe Bueckers is not on Caitlin Clark's level.

"11-17 shooting is elite. But please stop setting her up with the overhype 💀" one fan wrote.

"No. Caitlin Clark puts up video game numbers, stop tryna force Paige on us, she's good, but she isn't CC" another fan commented.

"Video game numbers is an over reach. She had a good game." another fan wrote.

The UConn star led her team to a 73-60 victory over Ole Miss in the Baha Mar Women's Championship final, dropping 29 points, four rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block on the night. Her numbers were compared to that of a video game, which some fans took issue with.

"Those are good stats but calling that video game numbers is insane 😂" one fan wrote.

"This is not video game numbers" another fan commented.

"Somebody don't play video games" another wrote.

Paige Bueckers continues great form for UConn

Paige Bueckers has come out of the gate swinging this season, currently averaging 22 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 4.5 apg, and 2.5 spg. She's making an all-around impact, leading the Huskies to an impressive 6-0 start to their campaign.

UConn legend Maya Moore averaged 19.7 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 3.5 apg, 2.0 spg, and 1.3 bpg while at college and led the Huskies to two national championships. Bueckers will be hoping to do a similar thing in what could be her final season at college.

The UConn senior still has one year of college eligibility remaining, but the expectation is that she'll enter the 2025 WNBA Draft because she's currently the No. 1 prospect.

The Dallas Wings won the WNBA Draft Lottery, which could mean we see Bueckers donning their colors alongside star guard Arike Ogunbowale next year.

For now, Paige Bueckers will be focused on taking the Huskies to the NCAA championship under the guidance of legendary coaching duo Geno Auriemma and Chris Dailey. They next take on Holy Cross in Storrs on Dec. 3.
