The Villanova Knicks, anyone? With Mikal Bridges' trade to the New York Knicks, Villanova's NCAA championship-winning quartet is back together. Bridges, who is going from the Brooklyn Nets to the Knicks, will be joining former Wildcat teammates Josh Hart, Jalen Brunson, and Donte DiVincenzo, in a move that reunites members of the Wildcats 2016 squad. No one was happier about the news than their former head coach Jay Wright, who had this to say on X:

"Boys are blessed to be together. No one ever gets this opportunity in the @NBA . A lot of work to do ! ! Let's go !! @nyknicks @NovaMBB !"

While at Villanova, Mikal Bridges won two national titles (2016, 2018). Donte DiVincenzo and Jalen Brunson were also there for the 2018 title. Bridges was named the Big East Co-Defensive Player of the Year and also won the Julius Erving Award for best small forward in 2018. During his time at Villanova, he also earned a First Team All-Big East selection (2018) and a Second Team All-Big selection (2017). He was also a Third Team All-American in 2018.

Bridges was the 10th overall pick of the 2018 NBA Draft, being picked by his hometown team, the Philadelphia 76ers.

Fans react to Mikal Bridges' trade to the Knicks

Fans were almost as excited as coach Jay Wright, with one fan calling for the coach to join the Knicks:

"Come be a consultant for the team. let’s win this thing the family way "

Some Knicks fans just asked Wright to admire what he built at Villanova:

"You helped guide them, enjoy what you have assembled!!!"

A fan praised Wright's abilities not only to train basketball players but also to help develop good personalities:

"Thank you Jay. You helped raise some good players. Their attitude, energy, on court and off court behavior speaks volumes."

Now it is up to the New York franchise to use the former Villanova men correctly. The Knicks haven't had consistent success since the 1990s, and they last won an NBA championship in the 1970s. Wildcats, assemble!
